Neal Goldstein, M.D., J.D., a Unique Variety of Attorney

Dr. Goldstein, the son of a physician and a nurse, was born into medicine, literally.

Dr. Goldstein attended Syracuse University from which he graduated from with a Bachelor of Arts in the Biological Sciences.

After University, Neal spent five years working as a clinical surgical research assistant at Temple University’s School of Medicine in the Department of Surgery. But it was Dr. Goldstein’s passions for medicine, patient care, and humanism that inspired his decision to enroll in medical school where he earned his M.D. at St. George’s University School of Medicine.

Committed to Serving Others Through Advocacy

After medical school, Neal continued to enrich the lives of others by giving back to the community, working at the Cass Community Health Clinic in Detroit, Michigan where he provided health care for the medically underserved, counseled patients on lifestyle changes, and engaged in preventative care. Neal witnessed, first-hand, the harsh realities of today’s modern health care system, which often denies access to quality medical care to the uninsured while placing limitations on health care professionals providing optimal care, ultimately harming the patient— often irreversibly.

Neal’s passion for providing medical care of the highest quality never wavered in his many years as a physician. It was Dr. Goldstein’s increasing concentration on patient advocacy, though, that sparked a career change to legal advocacy. Neal earned his law degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago John Marshall Law School where he worked on cases of deliberate indifference and medical negligence for the school’s Pro Bono Clinic, maintaining his obligation to the health care of others.
