Paul Lauricella and Slade McLaughlin spent a combined 41 years at the Beasley Firm, and are proud of their contribution to that firm. However, the Beasley Firm’s website contains a section titled “cases we’ve won” that omits a lot of significant information. I am writing this blog to simply set the record straight.
The Beasley Firm website lists a $907 million dollar verdict in estate of Holly Maddux v Ira Einhorn as among the cases it has won. The website does not disclose that the two attorneys who secured that result (James Beasley, Sr. and James McHugh) are no longer with the firm. Mr. Beasley died in 2004, and Jim McHugh left years ago to form his own firm.
$100 Million Dollar Verdict
The Beasley Firm also touts a $100 million dollar verdict in Vlazny v Cavarrocci as among the “cases we’ve won,” without mentioning that the attorney who actually tried that case left the firm in 2004.
$55 Million Dollar Verdict
The Beasley Firm touts a $55 million dollar verdict in Gault v Norwood as among the “cases we’ve won” without noting that the case was “won” by the late, great Jim Beasley who passed away in 2004.
$34 Million Dollar Verdict
Likewise, the $34 million verdict in Sprague v Philadelphia Newspapers was won by the late Jim Beasley, as was the $29 million verdict in Guarnere v Cessna Aircraft Corporation.
$16,250,000 Million Dollar Settlement
The Beasley Firm’s website likewise references cases that had been tried by Paul Lauricella and Slade McLaughlin as cases that the firm has won. The firm’s website, for instance, references a $16,250,000 settlement secured by McLaughlin and Lauricella, and suggests that the firm’s financial stake in the case, and not the skill of the attorneys, was responsible for the astounding result.
None of this, of course, has anything to do with the lawyers who are still part of the Beasley Firm. However, when a firm advertises “cases we’ve won” without advertising that the lawyers who won those cases are no longer with the firm, the public has a right to know. And now you know.
